Measuring publication diversity among the most productive scholars: how research trajectories differ in communication, psychology, and political science

Abstract Examining research patterns across scientific fields constitutes a growing enterprise to understand how global knowledge production unfolds. However, scattered empirical evidence has casted light on the publication diversity of most productive scholars differ disciplines, considering their gender and geographical representation. This study focuses prolific three (Communication, Political Science, Psychology), examine all journals where they have published. Results revealed common in which appeared showed that Communication are more prone publish Science Psychology than vice-versa, while psychologists’ largely neglect them both. Our findings also demonstrate males US over-represented fields, neither field, gender, geographic location, or interaction between location significant influence over diversity. The suggests not only productive, but highly diverse selection publish, directly speaks both heterogeneity contributions target readers.
